41st Tokyo Motorshow 2009

Last year while visiting Japan, one of the many things that I managed to do was attend the Tokyo Motorshow.
Celebrating it's 30th anniversary, the Car of the Year Japan Executive Committee held a special exhibit featuring winners for years 1 through 29 with mint dcondition models on display, as well as the candidates vehicles for 2009. From memory the winner went to the gay as fuck Toyota Prius.

Along with many other mind fucking displays that I wont mention, there were several concept car unveiling's. It was pretty simple to find where these were located, only having to look for 20-30 old Japanese men with fuck off telescopic canon cameras taking flix of the promo broads in front of the cars. I blended right in!

Here's Just a few shots and a rundown of what was on show that took my eye.

Toyota FT-86 Concept

The FT-86 (“86″ pronounced “hachi roku”) Concept represents the culmination of a collaborative engineering agreement between Toyota and Subaru with each manufacturer sharing components and expertise to deliver an affordable rear-drive sports coupe.
Instead of aligning to the latest motoring trend and employing an expensive hybrid powertrain, the FT-86 Concept uses a Subaru-derived 2.0-litre normally-aspirated boxer engine which sends power to the rear wheels.

6 Speed Manual / RWD

Nissan Qazana Concept

By mixing SUV and sports car styling cues, NDE's design team has created a highly individual Crossover quite unlike anything else on the road. The tall stance, truncated rear styling and short front and rear overhangs underscore its feeling of robustness and strength, but the low roof line, assertive side window graphic and broad shoulders hint at a sporting ability absent in traditional all-wheel drives.

5 Door SUV
1.6 Litre / 4 Cylinder / Fuel Injected Turbo
6 Speed Manual / FWD-4WD

Subaru Hybrid Tourer

Subaru has condensed its DNA, developed over many years around the Subaru's core technology of "Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD)" and "Horizontally-Opposed Boxer Engine", into the integration of a luxurious and high-quality cabin atmosphere and an eye-catching sculpted body. The concept car features Subaru's latest evolutions in handling agility, riding comfort and superior safety performance. It proposes Subaru's vision of a future grand touring car that excels in environmental friendliness thanks to Subaru's unique hybrid system.

Lexus LF Compact hybrid

The five-door Lexus LF-Ch features an aggressive grille with a wide front bumper and air dam. A blackened B pillar gives an illusion that the car is a coupe while its overall chiseled appearance suggests that this isn’t your everyday hybrid. Plenty of leather and metal touches can be found in the cabin of the car, across the dash, on door panels, around the instrument panel and on the seating surfaces. In addition, all of the Lexus gadgets and gizmos customers expect will be included from the latest cabin technology highlights to today’s safety features.
Designed by Toyota’s Newport Beach, California research and design center, the LF-Ch offers 2+2 seating and is powered by the latest generation of Lexus Hybrid Drive technology. Toyota says that a drive mode-switch allows for the driver to choose between four operating modes: Normal, Eco, and EV plus a Sport mode. That last mode has a feature that amplifies throttle response, designed to appeal to drivers who crave raw power.

Some batmobile shit
